قال السفير حسام زكي، أمين عام مساعد جامعة الدول العربية، إن مصادر تمويل الأمن الغذائي موجودة في المنطقة العربية، مؤكدًا أن السودان أحد مخازن الإنتاج الزراعي بالعالم العربي، وبسبب الحرب ضاع عليها الموسم الصيفي كما أن الموسم الشتوي مهدد أيضًا.

Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, said that sources of funding for food security exist in the Arab region, stressing that Sudan is one of the stores of agricultural production in the Arab world, and because of the war, it lost the summer season, and the winter season is also threatened.

وأضاف زكي، خلال مداخلة هاتفية لبرنامج «الشرق الأوسط»، مع الإعلامية أميمة تمام، والمذاع عبر فضائية «القاهرة الإخبارية»، أن التحديات كثيرة ومنطقتنا صعبة ولحلها لابد من المزيد من التعامل مع هذه الإشكاليات وهي مسألة متكاملة ونستطيع التعامل معها في موضوع التمويل لنجد الحلول المناسبة.

Zaki added, during a phone call to the “Asharq Al-Awsat” program, with the journalist Omaima Tammam, and broadcast on the “Cairo News” satellite channel, that the challenges are many and our region is difficult, and to solve them, we must deal more with these problems, and they are an integrated issue and we can deal with them in the issue of financing to find solutions. He stressed that the war in Sudan is a major blow to agricultural production in the Arab world, and it was producing millions of tons of grains and other things, and the ongoing war led to a major setback in agricultural production, noting that there are problems that some countries are exposed to regarding water issues, such as Iraq, which faced two seasons with a lot of drought. As a result of dams built on the upper rivers in Turkey and elsewhere, this affects agricultural production. There is rain-fed agriculture in North Africa and it is affected by the weather.
