واكد التحالف بحسب تصريحات ان الحرس الشخص لوالي غرب دارفور اكد ان قوات الدعم السريع هي من اعتقلته وقتلته .
وأضاف التحالف بانهم يحتفظون بحق الرد.

ويعد خميس المنتمي لعرقية المساليت كبرى قبائل غرب دارفور، أحد قيادات حركة تحرير السودان قيادة عبد الواحد نور عند إندلاع الحرب في إقليم دارفور خلال 2003 ، قبل أن ينشق منه ويؤسس فصيل حمل نفس الاسم.
Khamis, who belongs to the Masalit ethnicity, is considered the largest tribe in West Darfur. ونشطت الحركة التي يرأسها منذ العام 2006 وحتى العام 2010 في مناطق بولاية غرب دارفور، ليختفي بعدها قبل أن يظهر مجددًا عقب سقوط نظام الرئيس المعزول عمر البشير في العام 2019 مؤسسا حركة التحالف السوداني ومُشاركاً في مفاوضات السلام التي رعتها حكومة جنوب السودان التي انتهت بالتوقيع على اتفاق جوبا 2020.
