متابعات سودان لايف نيوز – شهدت مدينة النهود، العاصمة الإدارية المؤقتة لولاية غرب كردفان، يوم الخميس، اندلاع اشتباكات عنيفة بين الجيش السوداني وحلفائه من جهة، وقوات الدعم السريع من جهة أخرى.
وقد عززت قوات الدعم السريع تواجدها العسكري بشكل كبير في محيط المدينة خلال الأسبوعين الماضيين، حيث دفعت بقوة كبيرة قادمة من إقليم دارفور بقيادة علي رزق الله المعروف بـ”السافنا”. وقبل يوم من الاشتباكات البرية، قصفت قوات الدعم السريع أجزاء واسعة من المدينة بالمدفعية، مما أثار حالة من الذعر بين المدنيين.
وذكرت مصادر محلية لـ”سودان تربيون” أن “قوة من الدعم السريع تقدر بنحو 300 مركبة عسكرية شنت هجومًا واسع النطاق على مدينة النهود من الجهتين الغربية والشمالية، وخاضت معارك ضارية ضد الجيش ومجموعات عرقية متحالفة معه”.
وأفاد شهود عيان بأن قوات الجيش، تحت وطأة الهجوم المكثف، تراجعت إلى الجزء الشرقي من المدينة، حيث يقع مقر قيادة اللواء 18 مشاة.
في المقابل، نشرت منصات إعلامية موالية لقوات الدعم السريع مقاطع فيديو تظهر انتشار جنودها في وسط المدينة وسيطرتهم على مبنى المحلية والسوق الكبير ومقر قوات الاحتياط وسجن المدينة المركزي، حيث قاموا بإطلاق سراح السجناء. وأشار الشهود إلى استمرار المعارك داخل المدينة، مع سماع أصوات انفجارات قوية وتصاعد أعمدة الدخان.
وظلت مدينة النهود، التي تتمتع بموقع استراتيجي يربط بين ولايات كردفان وإقليم دارفور، تحت سيطرة القوات المسلحة وتُمارس منها سلطات ولاية غرب كردفان بعد سيطرة قوات الدعم السريع على مدينة الفولة في العام الماضي.
وتعتبر النهود، مقر نظارة قبيلة “الحمر”، مركزًا تجاريًا هامًا في غرب السودان، وتشتهر بإنتاج الفول السوداني بكميات كبيرة والصمغ العربي، كما تضم سوقًا للماشية يُعد من أكبر الأسواق في السودان.
Fighting erupted between the Sudanese army and its allies against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Thursday in the city of An-Nuhud, the interim administrative capital of West Kordofan State.
Over the past two weeks, the RSF had deployed unprecedented military reinforcements towards the city’s outskirts, with a force arriving from the Darfur region led by Ali Rizgalla, known as “Al-Safanna.”
On Wednesday, the RSF launched intense artillery shelling that affected large parts of the city, causing fear among civilians.
Local sources told Sudan Tribune that “a force of the RSF, estimated at about 300 military vehicles, launched a wide-scale attack on the city of An-Nuhud from the western and northern directions, where it engaged in fierce battles against the army and allied ethnic groups.”
Witnesses reported that after the attack intensified, army forces withdrew to the eastern part of the city, where the headquarters of the 18th Infantry Brigade is located.
Platforms affiliated with the RSF broadcasted video clips showing the deployment of their soldiers in the city center and their control over the local government headquarters, as well as the large market, the Reserve Forces headquarters, and the city’s central prison, before releasing the inmates.
Witnesses indicated that battles in the city were still ongoing, with the sound of strong explosions and plumes of smoke rising.
The city of An-Nuhud, with its strategic location linking the Kordofan states and the Darfur region, had remained under the control of the armed forces, from which the authorities of West Kordofan State have been operating since the RSF took control of the city of Al-Fula last year.
An-Nuhud, the headquarters of the Hamar ethnic group’s traditional administration, is an important commercial center in western Sudan. The region is famous for producing large quantities of peanuts and gum arabic, and it also has a livestock market considered one of the largest in Sudan.
