كشف المستشار السياسي لرئيس مجلس السيادة، أمجد فريد، عن استمرار وجود جواز سفر الفريق أول ركن عبد الفتاح البرهان، رئيس مجلس السيادة والقائد العام للقوات المسلحة، لدى السفارة الأمريكية في القاهرة، في وقت لم تتلقَّ فيه السلطات السودانية، بحسب إفادته، رداً رسمياً بشأن التأشيرة الخاصة بمشاركته في اجتماعات نيويورك حتى الآن.
وقال أمجد فريد، في تصريحات متلفزة لقناة «الحدث»، إن الحكومة السودانية تقدمت باحتجاج رسمي إلى الأمم المتحدة على خلفية تأخر إصدار التأشيرة، مشيراً إلى أن المنظمة الدولية أبدت تفهماً للموقف السوداني.

Amjad Farid, Political Advisor to the President of the Sovereignty Council, revealed that the passport of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan—President of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces—remains with the US Embassy in Cairo. Meanwhile, according to Farid, Sudanese authorities have not yet received an official response regarding the visa required for his participation in the New York meetings.
